SU’s men’s, women’s teams dominate top 10 at John Reif Memorial

Syracuse's men and women each controlled the top 10 at the John Reif Memorial in Ithaca, NY.

Syracuse cross country concluded its regular season on Friday in Ithaca, New York, at the John Reif Memorial. SU’s men’s team had seven racers finish inside the top 10. On the women’s side, the Orange took the top six spots and eight of the top 10.

In the men’s 5K, Noah Carey won the race with a time of 14:44.8. Syracuse’s Connor Ackley finished second overall with a time of 14:47.3. Benne Anderson finished third with a time of 14:50.4. Gabriel Planty (15:06.7) was right behind them, crossing the finish line in fourth place. Alex Herbst (15:30.1), Noah Beveridge (15:31.9) and Patrick Malone (15:32.8) finished eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively.

In the women’s 5K, the Orange dominated the race. Justus Holden-Betts led the pack with a time of 17:43.2. Caroline Kirby was the only other runner that finished with a sub 18:00 race at a time of 17:58.9. Bethany Steiner (18:07.3), Barbora Svobodva (18:33.9) and Olivia Shattuck (19:07.9) rounded out the top five. Junior Tess Fitzmaurice came in right behind them, finishing sixth overall (19:19.8). Taylor Mascetta (19:40.4) and Madeline Lutz (19:59.4) finished ninth and 10th, respectively.
